Okay I do troll for scifi/fantasy stuff

Since everybody else seems not to troll for information - I will state that I do troll for information. And I saw this link on Scifi's plan to bring Ursula K. Le Guin's Earthsea to TV as a miniseries. I just don't read enough, and I admit I have not read this book - though I definitely worry that it will be a sucky representation.... But hey its better than that other crap they have been running...

Hey, something right up John's alley! Chick fiction brought to the small screen! He loved Mists of Avalon. Case rested.

I wouldn't call LeGuin's stuff "chick fiction".

I seem to recall SkiFi was also planning on doing a version of LeGuin's "The Lathe of Heaven" (which was done on PBS in the late 70's as a mini-series, believe it or not!). Did they ever show it?

I'm just tweaking John 'cause he didn't like the Le Guin stuff he read. I don't now about SciFi, but, I think, A&E did a Lathe of Heaven movie last year. Its out on DVD too.
I didn't see it, but it got decent reviews.

Huh-huh. You said "up John's alley".

I read The Left hand of Darkness and couldn't finish it. If she used the word "ecumenical" one more time, I was gonna lose it. Picky, but there it is.

I read Lathe of Heaven and loved it. I saw the A&E adaptation in 2002 (starring Lukas Hass and written/directed by his brother. Nepotism? Gotta be.) The movie was pretty good if memory serves.

As for the never-ending "chick-fiction" label that always seems to get thrust upon me, well, I like a good story regardless of the gender of the point of view. Mists of Avalon kept my attention and was a page turner for 1,000 pages. To me, that?s quite an accomplishment.

You gotta watch the language Fred. 'Gentlemen' is a pretty rough word to toss around! I can sense John trying to keep it as clean as possible since we are a friendly blog. But it ain't easy. (Insert joke here)

Good assessment, JP. Every sentence is another opportunity for a Beavis & Butthead-ism. Or a Dan's Mom joke. But that's too easy. Just like Dan's Mom.

Alas, methinks I am more juvenille in my thirties than I was in high school.
