Ok, so this movie is going to suck rocks like rocks have never been sucked before. Its too bad many people will get their climatology 'science' from the movies instead of investigating it themselves. Having said that, I think this article shows more about how Ballard views America than how Hollywood reflects the U.S. psyche. You can see it in his political statements.

Bah, he's a pompous ass, as only a Brit can be...

Maybe these movies are how we deal with the tragedies in our lives (isn't that why the Japanese created Godzilla to step on their cities?) Maybe he should be glad that we have movies to vent our frustrations with; otherwise, we might get pissed enough to shoot a nuke up his snooty behind...
