Florida's Channel 47 is reporting that Lucas is planning a Star Wars TV series for next year:
The small-screen adaptation will be set after 1983's Return Of The Jedi and will feature the continuing stories of Jedi Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Princess Leia.

I would be dubious too. You're talking about the same people who can't punch an election ballot correctly -- come on, you're making holes on a piece of paper, a 2 yr old can do that!

Yes! Star Wars on TV! That'll be at least as much fun as the immortal Star Wars Holiday Special -- which George Lucas tries, to this day, to suppress from public memory... uh... hm.
On second thoughts... perhaps TV just isn't the proper medium for Star Wars. But no matter: if Lucas wants a TV series, Fox will be all too eager to oblige.

I can see it now:
Tonight on Fox, watch "When Jedi Go Bad 3", followed by "The Kessel Run's Worst Pilots 2"!
Only on Fox!

There already was a SW TV series in the 70's. It was called BattleStar: Galactica.

Seems there is something to this after all:

The reason the major SW fanboy sites didn't pick up on this is because they've already reported on it in the past. At least that's what I gather from this article and a search for the phrase 'star wars tv series' in google.
