Grand Theft Auto...in Space!

[ SCRAPLAND ] is a new game by American McGee, who also did Alice. Its billed as a game with the open ended game play of GTA3, but set in a Sci Fi world and with a host of other interesting features.

The first thing from the demo that jumps out at me is this game looks great. Its bright, bold, a bit cartoony, and really cool to look at.

Secondly, since this world is fully 3D, I think it may actually be easier to play this game on an Xbox than on a PC. At least, a PC with only a keyboard and mouse.

I've thought, since play GTA3: Vice City, that this type of game would be a great vehicle for a SF-themed game. McGee seems to agree. However, Scrapland is taking a humorous, campy apporach to its SF setting. I still think that a gritty, serious SF world would make a great game in this vein. If only I had the money, programming talent, time and team of people, then I'd make it happen. Too bad all I have are the clowns around here. And I mean that in the nicest possible way...

Careful what you say, JP, or we'll all pile into our tiny Volkswagen and hit you on the head with a big, inflatable hammer. And don't think we can't outrun you...we have giant feet.
