Hey, New York Yankees! You sucked when I was growing up, and take a guess, YOU STILL SUCK! I think I like it better when you sucked during the regular season instead of making yourselves historical losers and believe me, you'll be reminded of that for a loooooooooooooong time to come because whenever a team leads 3-0 in a 7 game series, the commentators will now all say that "no team has ever lost a 7 game series after taking a 3-0 lead, except for the 2004 New York Yankees!" As you're crying over your 4-time spilt milk, I hope Steinbrenner take you losers out for some batting practice using your worthlessly overpaid heads!

I certainly would like to know how this applies to SF? Maybe if you can throw a time machine in there and make some of the players undead space nazis - then I think you might have a movie there...

Uhhhh . . . I thought the NYY were undead space nazis? Or maybe that was just their fans . . . I mean they had to get the police out on the field in riot gear for game 6 of the ALCS - riot gear? The mere fact that they were prepared to come out on the field in riot gear, let alone that they had to do it, was interesting. Since Torre took over their post season record has been good, not to mention the fact they have one of the most interesting and rich history of any team in baseball, despite that fact I still don't like them which is why I am fine with the fact that you are a bandwagon NYY fan Pete.

Were they out in riot gear last night so the fans don't trash the Stadium in total disgust? As for the SF angle, maybe if Steinbrenner had invoke some voodoo, maybe this post wouldn't have been necessary.

Ha! They're losers, again!
PS: If Steinbrenner were an undead nazi space zombie, would he be rolling over in his grave?

Are you convinced that Steinbrenner isn't?? I thought the jury was still out on that.... ![]()

I'm confused - are you a Yankee fan who is upset they lost Pete, or are you a Yankee hater?
The Yankees are the most storied franchise in baseball. I don't like the current owners ability to buy his way to success, but then, this too is part of the history of the Yankees. They bought Babe Ruth and they've been buying the best players ever since - and lo and behold it works for them (where it doesn't work for the Mets, Phillies, Giants, etc.)
In 2005, the payrolls for the top MLB teams where:
Yankees $208M
Red Sox $123M
Angels $97M
Cardinals $92M
Braves $86M
Astros $76M
White Sox $75M
Padres $63M
Top payrolls not represented are:
Mets $101M
Phillies $95M
Giants $90M
Mariners $87M
Cubs $87M
Dodgers $83M
Yes, the Yankee's exited in the first round this year but they'll be back next year. The ability to nearly double the rest of the league in terms of payroll makes them a contender.

And, lest we be accused that baseball is not science fiction, I bring you Baseball in Science Fiction! ![]()

I don't know what I am, Scott ... rather than incur the wrath of Tim by posting an brand new entry showing my disgust and (a good dose of Schadenfreude) I just resurrected an old entry by adding a new comment which little to do with the original entry.

This blog is about science, fiction, SciFi, fantasy, technology, space, anime, books, computers, games, movies, music, TV, the web, and rarely, humor.

what? noone commented on my use of the word "Schadenfreude?" That should have bummed the Lix score!!
Fred, what part of the undead nazi-space zombie, Steinbrenner, didn't you understand??
I thought we had that standing rule that if any mention of a U.N.S.Z automatically makes a post SF-related?

"This blog is about science, fiction, SciFi, fantasy, technology, space, anime, books, computers, games, movies, music, TV, the web, and rarely, humor."
(1) "Humor. A difficult concept."
There. A raving fanboy reference to inject some science fiction, movie and humor into it.
"Fred, what part of the undead nazi-space zombie, Steinbrenner, didn't you understand??"
(2) True. I forgot the charter. Undead nazi-space zombie would work. However, Steinbrenner is just a raving idiot, not necessarily any of the other things.
Maybe he'll be reborn on the next spinoff of "The Apprentice".

Personally, I still don't really think this applies to our normal posting milieu in that its really an editorial piece about Pete's desire to see the NY Yankees get kicked out of any playoff situation they are put into. We can inject undead space nazis and time travelling alien overlords, but alas this still has nothing really to do with SciFi or the other topics we tend to discuss. Just one inmates thoughts....

My silly little post has garnished more attention than I would have thought -- sorry for the consternation.
