It is common for sci-fi films to communicate how the society feels about their current technology and how it effects the environment they live in. Science fiction movies warn us that science can also be used as a tool of cruelty, defiance, and destructiveness. In these types of movies we view monstrous disasters and watch as the human population is threatened by Armageddon-like events.

That's my 10 cents :D
