Well, when I was in the U.S. Army, the NCO ranks and quite a bit of the officer ranks of the combat units I was in was pretty filled with those who played D&D, Twilight: 2000, 2300 AD, Traveller, EPT, wargames, video games, built models, used miniatures, etc.

Yep, I guess we were all pretty detached from "reality".

Just to clear up any confusion taht might arise, the 'Army' referred to in the title is the Israeli Army, not the US Army.

I knew that it was the IDF, not the US Army. I was making a comment based on my personal experience in a military organization that a lot of us used such games as ways of relieving tension/boredom.
