OK, One More Firefly Post.
There is a new book coming out in April titled Finding Serenity described on Amazon thusly:
In this eclectic anthology of essays, former cast member Jewel Staite, "Kaylee," philosopher Lyle Zynda, sex therapist Joy Davidson, and noted science fiction and fantasy authors Mercedes Lackey, David Gerrold, and Lawrence Watt-Evans contribute to a clever and insightful analysis of the short-lived cult hit Firefly. From What went wrong with the pilot? to What's right about Reavers? and how the correspondence between the show's creator Joss Whedon and the network executives might have actually played out, the writers interrogate the show's complexity and speculate about what might have been if the show Firefly had not been cancelled.[Link via John C. This is ... unprecedented? Has another short-run TV show (it didn't even make a full season) ever generated a book like this?

It's a Joss Whedon show, and my guess was that the popularity of the show within the sf community may have influenced it's creation.
That, and it's edited by the same people who put together the "Seven Seasons of Buffy" and the "Five Seasons of Angel" collections (both of which were fun and entertaining, but I thought the Angel collection was better).

And it's published by Benbella, who has done books on "The Matrix", "Buffy" and various other SF/popular culture crossovers.
