Hot off the press, the nominations for the 2005 Hugo Awards and the John W. Campbell Award for best new writer have been announced.

You'll note from the extended list that the Battlestar Galactica epsiode "33" is up for an award for Best Dramatic Presentation along with the pilot epsiode of Lost.

Two addenda:

1. I failed to note that all of the novel nominees are British (Thanks, BDO)
2. I expect that the short story nominees will all be available online in the very near future so as to give voters a chance to sample the wares. (Indeed, Charles Stross states as much about his own stories.)
