Inara is hot and all that but she is definitely not on my top 3 favorites list. The Doctor is just too wimpy at times. I mean he is a fine character but he feels too much like that little weasel kid that always sucks up to the teacher. For me, its all about Jayne. He is hilarious and anybody that will name his gun Vera wins it every time.

For me it was Kaylee - her character is smart (has to be to fix the ship), funny, and Jewel Strait is cute as a button. To me she was the heart of the crew.

I voted for the doctor! He gave up everything in his life to save his sister: such devotion is remarkable. I wonder why my vote didn't get counted.

I have only been able to see the episodes that have aired on Sci Fi recently. I left the country the day after the series premiered, and by the time I returned 90 days later, it was off the air. There were no reruns for me to catch up on until now so my vote was based upon the first 2 or 3 eps only.
For me it was a choice between Kaylee and Zoe. Zoe is cool, kicks ass, and is loyal to both her Captain and husband, but how can you not love Kaylee. She's so very happy and optimistic, but also smart. I just get happy watching her be happy; how can peope not want to spend all their time her? Okay, maybe in real ife she'd get really annoying really quickly, but we get to see her 15 minuites a week maximum.
All the men, other the Wash, have some major negative characteristics or are just too mysterious so far for me to connect with them. Mal is honorable in his own way, but he can be really mean to his crewmembers.

Personally, I think all of the characters are strong so it was a tough choice for me. Ultimately, Mal won my vote because of his "takes no guff" approach.
