Good News Everyone!

Matt Groening tells The Sydney Morning Herald he believes the success of The Family Guy and the success of the Futurama DVD sales has given his series a shot at being renewed. As an optimist, he believes the show will start again 'tomorrow'.

From my perspective, this is a good thing. I really like Futurama and think Fox gave it short shrift, as it does with most of its SF shows. I guess we'll have to wait and see, but I for one would welcome our new Futurama overlords (in writing this down the first time, I accidentally wrote 'Suturama', which sounds like some sort of surgery-themed game show).

All chant:
All hail Futurama! More singing comedy!

Oh and JP the quote you attribute to Groening is actually from David X. Cohen (head writer and co-creator.)

We need more Futurama so we can have more math and science references - the amount of thought this group of PhD math/science guys put into the show is amazing.

In being asked if he would comment on his math background Cohen responded:
"Go ahead. If I can inspire people to study math and then give it up and move on to something else, I'm happy to do so."
