An Early Look at A Scanner Darkly

There's an early positive review (based on a likely-to-change test screening) of Richard Linklater's A Scanner Darkly, the adaptation of Philip K. Dick's 1977 novel. The anonymous revewer said it reminded him of 12 Monkeys and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

Sweetness. I've been waiting for this flick since I saw the first stills in 2004. PKD movies have been torn to bits lately (save for The Minority Report), but I think Linklater will come through for this book.

Too bad the guy who made the XXX sequel is working on my favourite PKD short, "The Golden Man". From the sounds of the plot synopsis, there will only be the loosest of connections between the story and the movie.

Worse than, say, I, Robot? :)
