• SF author David Gerrold, who wrote the Star Trek episode "The Trouble with Tribbles", has joined the production team of Star Trek: The New Voyages, a fan-driven continuation of the voyages of the Starship Enterprise. [via Slice of SciFi]


• Orbit will be publishing Scott Westerfeld's SUCCESSION series, in the U.S. comprised of The Risen Empire and The Killing of Worlds, as a single volume in the U.K. (bookjoining?) [via Emerald City]

Interesting article on Battlestar Galactica, but I'm still not that keen on the new series. I actually haven't watched any episodes since season one.

I must confess that the second half of the current season has not overly impressed me as much as earlier episodes.

That was one freaking annoying article. Guess what, moron? Not all fans of science fiction are Star Trek fanatics! And, guess what else...instead of "speculative fiction", we prefer the term "science ficiton" to "sci-fi".

Blech. If there was commentary in there about BS:G (and by the way, I have found the last few episodes of the second season to be some of the best stuff they've done), I didn't read far enough. The "oh, I'm such a smug person for having avoided SF so far" attitude was too much of a turn-off.

Well, moron's abound these days. I would say that means more science fiction for us, but unfortunately that's not the case. There's execellent content out there (Plan 9 from Outer Space... kidding), and more folks need to realize that so we'll get more excellent content. I hate that viscous cycle.

Maybe I'll have to give BS:G another chance.
