Back in the 70's (you remember the seventies...tye dye, mood rings and no inkling that Galactica 1980 loomed on the horizon) Buck Henry, co-creator of Get Smart with Mel Brooks, wrote and produced a science fiction spoof television show called Quark. It's pretty bad - low budget, Star Trek sound rip-offs and a laugh track. You have to look pretty hard to find any funny, and even then you'd probably come up with bubkiss. Is it any wonder there were only 8 episodes? Of course, by today's hit-and-run standards of network programming, that's a certifiable hit. For those who like to watch train wrecks, you can view the episodes yourself.

Oh my gosh! I do remember that series!
As much as I would give any SciFi a pass (because I wanted it so bad, I would watch anything), I didn't like this series much.
But maybe it's because it was so ground breaking and so futuristic. For example, it has clones (Betty I and Betty II). It has a trans-something or another, which is "normal" by today's standards (Gene/Jean is a transmute. He/she has an equal number of male and female chromosomes (i.e., he's half-man, half-woman).
Then there is Ficus, the vegitarian, er Vegeton. (Half-man, half-plant).
Don't judge Quark by the laughs (or lack of them), judge it by the groundbreaking sociological commentary it brought to 70's TV.
