Matrix Magazine is the news magazine of the British Science Fiction Association. The latest issue contains some good reads. Here are some of them:

• An interview with Hal Duncan, author of Vellum, a first novel that is receiving great word of mouth.


• Stephen Baxter examines the many different ways in which the sun has obliterated manking in SF. (Although, if I might add, he does neglect to mention the memorabe 1906 short story "Finis" by Frank Lillie Pollack)


• Martin Sketchley and Ian MacLeod contemplate music in science fiction.


• Karen Traviss and Liz Williams discuss characters, themes and Star Wars.


• William Mitchell dares to rage against 2001: A Space Odyssey. Now if only we can get him in on the anti-BladeRunner movement...
