The Top 50 Personal Blogs in SF/F

John Scalzi has been trolling technorati and came up with version 1.0 of the list of The Top 50 Personal Blogs in SF/F. Of course, all the caveats apply: constantly mobile rankings, traffic versus popularity, etc. Scalzi nicely calls them all out. Check out the comments section as well for some other worthwhile blogs.

Also of note, SF Signal (and other fine blogs) was excluded from the list. But - if we had to toot our own horn - SF Signal would rank at #14! (With the ranking that I just pulled now, hours after Scalzi grabbed his.)

Toot-Toot! :) Thanks for reading/linking folks!

Keep up the good work. I'd rank you guys much higher than no 14 if I were to draft up a list of top SF blogs.

How does one even find a Technorati ranking for a blog?

The most direct way is to simply type the blogs url into the "Blog Finder" search. You should get a page like this (the search result for Meme Therapy)

http://www.technorati.com/blogs/www.memetherapy.blogspot.com

Or you can type in....

http://www.technorati.com/blogs/[url of blog]

Hmmm...well, when I plug in my own blog, it gives my rank as 63,099, which should put me in the top 50. I've just alerted John.

Joshua,
See Scalzi's second bullet item: "I made the decision to not to include "news" blogs or blogs whose material is not primarily personal and/or SF-related. This disqualified high-ranking sites like Boing Boing, Locus Online, SFSite, Futurismic, SF Signal, Emerald City and Meme Therapy, which are ranked by Technorati and would have otherwise been on the list. This also, incidentally, disqualified my own AOL Journal, "By the Way," which I booted because I write it for money."
