Wired blog posted a YouTube video showcasing all of Ray Harryhausen's creatures. Some young whippersnappers may scoff at pre-CGI special effects, but this was the stuff that made many of us us wide eyed with wonder. [via No Blasters]

Freaking brilliant. Sinbad movies had a huge influence on me as a kid. Harry definitely did some wonderful things . . . but I'd love to take a shotgun to that flying toaster of an owl.

Hehe, I loved these films. I saw most of them - admittedly on reruns on TV.

Oh, I so remember going to see "Clash of the Titans" at the theater when I was a kid. I left wondering why all movies weren't that cool.
Even with today's awesome special effects, I still enjoy the old timey effects when they are done well or the story is so good it does not matter.

Golden Voyage of Sinbad! Earth versus Flying Saucers!
I still remember, as a kid, being totally awed and horrified during the lingering moment when, in the Jason film, the giant brass Talos turns its armored head to look down at the little, little Argonaut looting the tomb. I am glad that moment appeared in the tribute above.
