Peter Watts Releases Blindsight Under Creative Commons License

SF author Peter Watts has released his recent acclaimed novel Blindsight under a Creative Commons license. (See SF Signal review.) He has also put up alternate covers with permission of the artist. Watts also includes a bunch of book extras on the Blindsight page.

This is similar to last year's move of putting his novel Starfish under CCL.

The annoying thing being that he suspects the book may never get more prints, so even people who like won't be able to find the not-extremely-expensive version...

Giving a free on-line copy to promote sales is a good thing. Giving a free on-line copy because there won't be any sales... not so good.

Watts is reporting that support from bloggers is helping sales of his book.
