Dan Simmons has written a few other things too. I might have mentioned Hyperion or Carion Comfort before The Terror myself, although I see the article was prompted by that new work.

I wonder if radio dramas might see a comback thanks to the plethora of MP3 players out there? Whether you utilize your cell phone or a dedicated player, download from Apple's megahit iTunes site or just directly via the web to your PC, everybody has some way of listening nowadays.

I listen to "Old Wounds", the Firefly audio drama. It's not bad. takes a bit to get used to new voices to go along with the charactes we know and love, and then to keep those voices separate over the course of the entire show as each episode comes out so far apart.

I also listed to the Firefly fanfic podcast Tales from the 'Verse, which presents readings of firefly fanfic - doe pretty well also, but just read by one person instead of cast of performers and a huge production effort. So far, they've picked really good fic to read.

I tried listening to Strangely Literal, the fanfic podcast for Firefly, Buffy, and Angel - but it wasn't up to the quality of the first two mentioned.

There's apparently a huge following of podcast versions of books, see podiobooks.com. I've downloaded two or three, but haven't had a chance to listen to them yet. One author has even had cast members from Firefly read the "The story so far..." part of his podcast books. How cool is that!? (I think SFSignal actual mentioned this in a previous post awhile back).

I'd love to be a part of an audio production like that. But I rarely visits the boards and I always miss the announcements of new productions and call for volunteers/voices.
