Re the ebooks question - I've been asked many times why my books aren't available in electronic format.

The answer is simple: my books are currently published in Australia & New Zealand ONLY, and efforts are under way to interest UK and US publishers in overseas rights. However, any prospective publisher would be less than impressed if the titles were already selling into 'their' market as ebooks.

Therefore, no ebook versions.

Boy, they're going milk that Spiderman franchise for all its worth!

I have a suggestion for the next poll question: Which actors in the new Spiderman 3 movie looked the most stoned in those interviews?

Simon, have you looked at the Baen Books Webscriptions effort? They are expanding beyond just their in-house books. While the Tor Books deal fell through, they are starting to publish eBooks from Del Rey and other publishers, as well as books by authors independent of any publishing house.

I'm trying to get them, for example, to bring out the Exordium Series in electronic format. The Liadem books are coming out in electronic format.

Then there's the approach used by Doctorow, Stross and others. They have eBook versions of many of their books and stories. They claim it has helped the sales. Doctorow's publisher doesn't seem to have any problems with that.

That Ellen Datlow interview was great.

Seeing Jay Lake's name in the links reminds me that there is a book of his that I've really been wanting to read. Need to get on that.
