Klaatu Barada Keanu

Keanu Reeves is set to star as Klaatu in the 2008 remake of 1951's Robert Wise classic, The Day the Earth Stood Still.

Oh, geez.

On the one hand, if Hollywood is gonna do a remake, then this is good source material to crib from. But please, please, please let this be a good remake. Don't soil the name of a scifi classic for the sake of a few quick bucks.

But if you're gonna soil the name of a scifi classic for the sake of a few quick bucks, get Agent Smith to play Gort!

Reeves is perfect to play GORT, excellent casting I think.

That's exactly what I thought too!

Of COURSE they're going to soil the name of a scifi classic to make a quick buck. Have you not been paying attention for the past 10 years?

All you can hope for is that they at least soil it in an entertaining manner. You know... good eye candy and such.

Maybe they could make the robot a fembot! If you're going to have Keanu, why not fembots?

Maybe Keanu could play the soldier that gets vaporized by Gort at the beginning of the movie.

Keanu: Guns. Lots of guns.
Gort: BrrzzzAAAAAAAPPPP!!

I would pay to see that.

I hope it has plenty of digs at current US foreign policy. That never, ever gets old.

This is 2007. Isn't it time that robot roles be played by robot actors?

And hold the Keanu jokes. The robot community doesn't accept him either.
