John Is Guest-Blogging at SciFi Scanner

Starting today, I've got a temporary guest-blogging gig over at SciFi Scanner. That's the science fiction blog at AMC TV's website.

I'll be bringing my vast knowledge of supermodels - er...I mean, science fiction - to the movie watching masses. My postings will most likely be more frequent over there for the next several days, so if you need a bigger dose of me - and who doesn't? - then stop by and check it out!

There don't appear to be any comments on that site. I wonder how popular it is? I didn't even know it existed until John got the opportunity to guest-blog.

Another question - what is the purpose of that and the other blogs on AMC's site? It seems like an indirect revenue generator at best. I like the blog, so I read it regularly and get exposed to advertising for AMC's TV channel. I watch the TV channel, which pushes ratings up and AMC to get more money for the commercials. Wow, that's a long way to go to see some revenue.

They do have some paid-for advertisements on the site, but how lucrative can that really be? Can those ads really pay for the bandwidth and time of the bloggers? Hmmm...
