H.G. Wells' Things to Come

Here's the video for the 1936 production of Things to Come. H.G. Wells wrote the screenplay (!) which is loosely based on his story, "The Shape of Things to Come".

This was the film that first convinced me people in the future would all wear togas.

I am still waiting for the Giant Space Gun to be constructed. The idea of putting men in orbit by means of skyrockets seems so ridiculous compared to that. I am sure we can find two young people made of stuff stubborn enough to withstand the concussion. Circus clowns who are shot out of cannons do it all the time! Those are so real cannons! It is totally scientifically feasible!
