Once again we visit the Trailer Park to bring you trailers of SF-ish movies that may be of interest to you, our loyal readers.
First up, Southland Tales, a near future SF drama from Richard Kelly (Donnie Darko), and stars Dwayne Johnson and Sarah Michelle Gellar. You know it's SF because someone chose to nuke El Paso and Abilene. Abilene?! Southland Tales opens in limited release today.
Next up is Wanted, starring Angelina Jolie, Morgan Freeman and some other guy as the hero. Wanted is loosely based on the comics of the same name by Mark Millar. The comic book actually sounds cool. Of course, Hollywood couldn't have that, so they changed it to something else. We'll have to see whether that was a good decision or not. Wanted releases on March 28, 2008.
And finally, there is a new trailer for J.J. Abrams' disaster/monster movie Cloverfield. It will be showing before Beowulf, but thanks to the magic of YouTube, you can see it now. Is it Blair Witch meets Godzilla? Meh. Blair Witch meets Cthulhu? Bring. It. On. On 1/18/08 specifically.

Given that Cloverfield is being released in the "Siberia" of the movie release schedule (Mid January),I am not sanguine about the chances for it.
I did see the preview before watching Beowulf yesterday. Blair Witch meets is a good way to describe it. We have some clues in the preview. It does seem that the source of the trouble is deliberately obscured.

"Wanted" doesn't look terrible, but you're not wrong that the comic sounds much, much cooler.
