Apparently, the ending of I am Legend, based on the totally awesome Richard Matheson book, needed to be changed. Sigh...
Well, to clutch at straws, there's nothing to say that they haven't changed the ending to be closer to the book!

Not surprising in any way. Will Smith has been changing movies from the get go when his homophobia nixed the gay character and man on man kiss he signed up for in "Six Degrees of Separation". Of course it's going to have a happy ending where he plays the hero. Not a brave actor and unwilling to take any chances, he's got an ego to feed.

I'm disappointed to hear that about the ending of I am Legend, but it certainly doesn't surprise me. I would love to have seen them have the courage to follow the very interesting story that it is based on.

Is this the ending where he saves the cheerleader, thus saving the world?
