Actually, Wastelands has had a MySpace page for a looooong time. (The fact that it's now featured on MySpace Books--*that's* new.) Before I had the actual website setup, I had the MySpace page setup as a sort of half-measure, since I could set that up pretty quickly and on my own.
I don't claim to fully understand MySpace either, and it's certainly frustrating as hell sometimes with all of its errors and its poor design which blatantly milks users for more page views. Honestly I have no idea if it's of any value to writers. I will say I made at least one very good friend because of MySpace, so it's been worth it at least for that.
