The latest episode of BoingBoing TV features Xeni Jardin covering the phenomenon of filk, the combination of folk music and science fiction fandom. I caught my first live performance of filk at last year's ApolloCon and was quite impressed.

Before they were Action Figures: Plaid Stallions has a scan of a print ad hawking a Fembot doll, the "Female Robot Adversary of The Bionic Woman". Ideal for "thrilling action and fashion play!" Uh-huh.

Interesting to see "Planet Strappers" up at Gutenberg and Manybooks. I approached Gutenberg about that book and provided scans a while ago. It's an excellent hard SF novel by an author that is sadly neglected by today's publishers.
