TRAILER: Journey to the Center of the Earth

The web site for Journey to the Center of the Earth is live.

This is supposed to be a remake of the Jules Verne classic, but the trailer makes it look more like a hybrid of fun family film and a young Indiana Jones rip-off. (Seriously, that mining car jump is straight out of Temple if Doom. And I won't even bother asking what mining cars are doing in the center of the Earth to begin with...)

Oh yeah, and it's got dinosaurs. And Brendan Fraser. And it's in 3D.

It opens July 11th. Since the Worldwide machine of Marketing Hype has its vice-like grip around my kid, I'm pretty sure I'll be going to see this.

Yes, but is it better than Dr Tongue's Evil House Of Pancakes?

Thanks Matt, I just wasted half an hour watching SCTV clips...

:-S

This looks horrid. Actually, it looks worse, like they chickened out of calling this thing "Land Of The Lost."
I thank God my children are too young to find this appealing.

Sorry, as matter of principle I do not watch movies about underground world that do not involve Caroline Munro.

That rule has served me well in life.

OMFG! This looks horrid! Tho obviously marketed to the tween set, it still looks like drek. And it's always nice to see them market movies at kids which instruct them that physics doesn't matter. Inertia isn't real. You can drop for thousands of feet and you'll be fine as long as you land in water. Yea, I know it's a fantasy and I'm an old fart, but damn! this looks like crap!
