The two hierarchies are entirely distinct from each other; it is important that you do not confuse them.Great advice, in my opinion. I don't know how many times said confusion has landed me in trouble in my youth. Damn hierarchies.

In the 4th edition of Java in a Nutshell, pg 123 line 5 has changed to "Interfaces can be defined as static members of classes."
Solved a lot of curiosity with that one, eh?
