The Business of Gaming
While looking on the University of Texas web site for a picture of the Longhorn logo, the feature article, The Status of Online Gaming was plastered on the entry page and shouted, “read me!” , at me. So I did. Its a business take on computer gaming and digital convergence. Lots of grist to chew on here, too much for me to blog about right now. I’m in the surfing mood, but I’ll get back to it. An interesting read.
BTW, I’m thinking it would have been a blast to participate in the ‘data gathering’ side of the business study…. #$$^&@$ business majors…

When I was at UT, we had to sign up for time in a “computer lab,” and the “microcomputers” in my Pascal class had 8″ floppy disc drives.
Kids these days!
John,
My first Computer Science class, CS109P I think, was a Pascal class that used 8″ floppies as our storage media. Yikes. At least they weren’t punch cards. That was in 1987. Look how far we’ve come in 17 years. Even though I’ve lived through the changes, it still seems unbelievable.
But its a good thing there weren’t MMORPGs around back then. I had a hard enough time getting my work done and also playing Chuck Yeager’s Flight Sim or Earl Weaver Baseball.
