The Map of Literature

Gnod is a site that describes itself as an “experiment in the field of artificial intelligence”. I’m not sure what that means, but they have an interesting literature map. It’s kind of like a visual “if you like…” author-finder. Like the one for George R. R. Martin.

Kind of thin on a lot of names, though. For example, no Jack Williamson. No Jack Williamson? For crying out loud, he’s only been active in the field for 75 years!!!
No “Doc” Smith either. Well, at least they had Fred Pohl.
I wonder how names are submitted?
Good question. I’m also curious how they generate those “diagrams”. When I typed in “Arthur C. Clarke”, there were a whole lot of names in his “space” that I would not even vaguely associate with him or his style of writing.
No Iain Banke either. But they had Ken Mcleod. Come on! Banks has been writing for longer, and better, then McLeod! And I found McLeod while looking at the space for Asimov. Um, not close thank you.
