Dammit Jim, I’m a Doctor, not Star Trek Website Troller!

Looks like the original Star Trek series will soon be released in season boxed sets. Follow the links to see the packaging, which looks kinda nifty. Plus, there appears to be a lot of extras thrown in. I’m not sure what 69 pounds translates to in US dollars, but the price doesn’t seem to bad. I may look in to these, but only after I pick up the last 4 season boxes of B5!
One question: Why did the TrekToday website feel the need to explain who William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy are by putting their character names in parenthesis? Is there anyone who reads that site who doesn’t know?

  1. I’ve held off buying the individual releases of the “old series” due to this. I figured eventually there would be a boxed set with extras.
Happy to see I was proved correct. Now, of course, shortly after I purchase the deluxe version of “The Return of the King”, Jackson & Co. will announce they’ve found a whole bunch of extra footage to go into the ultra-mega-set of the JRRT Trilogy…
    :)

  2. I have the first 3 Star Trek DVDs, non-boxed set edition. I’m glad I didn’t buy any more. However, I’ve been thinking, am I still as big a ST fanboy as I used to be to plunk down my cash to buy the full seasons on DVD? B5, yes. ST:TOS, I don’t know.
As for LotR, I’ll buy the third movie in the super secret special edition box when it comes out, to go with my other two, and skip the ‘we know you have more money so hand it over to us’ special edition with all 3 included. I mean come on! How much worthy extra crap could they possibly put in that set?

  3. Does anyone out there remember exactly how and what the doctor “bones” said? Please complete the following quote:
    “Dammit Jim, I’m a doctor not a ??????????????????”
    Thank you,

  4. This quote comes from ST:TOS Series 1, Episode “The Devil in the Dark”.
Following discovery of the Horta, various people have used phasers on the creature. Kirk asks Bones whether he can patch her up. She’s a silicon-based lifeform, though so Bones responds “Dammit Jim, I’m a doctor not a bricklayer!”
But out comes the trowel and cement and he gives it a go.
    The Google, she es magnifique!
