i would like to add to the list of people and orginizations who have tried to erase the smell of Sci-Fi from themselves…i nominate SF Signal becouse they called themsleves SF Signal rather then Sci-Fi.

    :)

Hey all kidding a side this might be a good poll question.

Is “SF” or “Sci Fi” the best abrivation for science fiction?

  2. Ah, the debate between sf vs. sci fi. Or is it scifi? Or sci-fi? I think over the past couple of years, I have used “sf” to refer to books and “scifi” when talking about movies – yet another usage I’ve seen somewhere and adopted. But when we were thinking up a domain name, we were less concerned about nomenclature than we were about having something shorter to type. We’re all about the laziness.

I think the answer to the abbreviation question for most will be “who cares?”

  3. I almost always use SF. When someone says “sci-fi” to me I always say “It’s pronounced ‘skiffy,'” and that throws them off.

I can think of no other genre with such contraction.

    Hist-Dra?

    Ero-Thrill?

    Mil-Sus?
