After destroying the classic episodes of Star Trek by cramming the TV screen full of trivia popups and fanboy flamage (I mean seriously, its like the episodes are an afterthought, they don’t even show them in fullscreen, but in a window!), G4 has announced plans to bring the suck (and I don’t mean Wesley Crusher) to Star Trek: The Next Generation. Regardless of how you feel about that show, it doesn’t deserve the Spock Market treatment. Apparently, generating 21.3 million lines of chat and 5 millions transactions in the Spock Market qualifies as an ‘extraordinary success’. Hell, you get that much in one Kirk vs. Picard flamefest on Slashdot (we all know Kirk would take Picard, and probably his mother too…).

I occasionally will flip over to G4 to see what TNG is playing, especially when there is nothing else on. But with this abomination, I’ll be avoiding G4 like the Psi 2000 virus. On the bright side, one of the things being tracked throughout the series will be the ‘Picard Maneuver’, where the cast members (looks at John) tug on their shirts to pull them down. Now that is funny. The rest, not so much.
