RIP: Kurt Vonnegut

From the The NYT: Kurt Vonnegut, Novelist Who Caught the Imagination of His Age, Is Dead at 84.

Kurt Vonnegut was the author of such works as Player Piano (1952), The Sirens of Titan (1959), Slaughterhouse-Five (1969) and Timequake (1997). Although often noted as a science fiction author, he has frequently expressed disdain at being labeled as such.

I never liked his books, I'm afraid, but I'm still sorry to see he's died. Whether I like him or not, he was still a major American author, and I'm sorry to see him go.

Very weird, a Hoosier native we just did a story (I work in TV) on Indianapolis choosing Slaughter-House Five as the One City One Book for this year. And calling 2007 The YEar of Vonnegut. He had several scheduled appearances here this year, now his son will cover them....

More bad news, sometime genre actor Roscoe Lee Brown passed on as well.

I've said it for years. Celebrities always go in threes.
