World Exclusive: A Sneak Peek At The Rides Of Harry Potter World
The announcement last week of the creation of “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Resort” has created quite a stir in the Pottersphere. You can imagine the interest that exists as to what rides and attractions will be built for the park. Now, thanks to our inside man at Universal, we proudly bring you this soon to be released Press Release:
ORLANDO, FLA, June 7 /HPPRWire/ — Today Universal Studios is proud to present a ‘first look’ at some of the rides for the upcoming mini-theme park “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando Resort”. “The Harry Potter books are filled with interesting and unique characters and settings”, says Ima Phanboi, Universal Studios spokesperson. “For The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, we wanted to translate the unique aspects of the Harry Potter books into new, exciting rides and attractions for our guests”, said Phanboi.
Phanboi discussed several of the new attractions that will be available when the park opens:
The Quidditch Skyway – “One of the first things our guests will see upon entering the park will be the Quidditch Skyway”, says Phanboi. “It’s basically a transport system, moving people from one side of the park to the other whilst riding on replica Nimbus 2000 broomsticks, but we’ve given it a Harry Potter spin!”, says Phanboi. “Instead of guests being enclosed in a metal cage, the broomsticks are completely open air and the guest have to hold on with their hands and legs, just like Harry Potter chasing a snitch! But its also an interactive ride”, explains Phaboi, “as guests on the ground will be able to pelt Skyway riders with replica bludgers, which can be purchased at the gift shops (Giftara Expensivo), conveniently located at either entrance to the Skyway” says Phanboi. When asked about concerns for falling riders who are hit by the bludgers, Phanboi responded, “Harry has hit ground many times with little damage. A fall from 10 feet is nothing.”
The Moaning Myrtle Porcelain Express – “Moaning Myrtle is an often overlooked character in the books”, says Phanboi. “But at The Wizarding World, we’ve created a ride just for her. Guests ride in specially crafted 2-seat cars designed to look like toilets. These cars will spin while the cars advance through the ride’s many drops, inversions and twists!”, exclaimed Phanboi. She continued, “It’s sure to leave guests gasping and heaving for more, and we’ve also created a special ‘Chamber Of Secrets’ at the ride’s exit to help our guests relieve themselves of any discomfort they may be feeling.”
H.R. Hufflepuff’s House of Magic Flutes – Come join House Hufflepuff’s favorite residents, Ron and Hermione, as they explore the world of music through magic flutes. “That’s the description on the park map”, explains Phanboi. “We think this gift shop is as unique as it is interesting. It will contain many different types of flutes for purchase, including pan flutes and bone flutes. In addition, there will be a short, five minute film exploring the world of flutes where Ron teaches Hermione the proper techniques for playing a flute”, said Phanboi.
The Slytherin Snake Ride – Not to be outdone, House Slytherin will also have an attraction. “They’re very secretive about what they are building”, says Phanboi. “But what I can tell you is: it’s a rollercoaster, it’s reptilian themed, and they’re slogan is “Ride the Slytherin Snake for the ride of your life!”, explained Phanboi. “It’s all very mysterious, exciting, and a bit dirty. Just like the Slytherins”, she added.
Professor McGonagall’s Cat House – “We’re very excited about this attraction”, said Phanboi. “We believe this is the first ‘attraction’, aimed at adult visitors, dedicated solely towards ‘cats’ in a major American theme park. Although we believe there may be one or two similar attractions in parks in the Netherlands”, continued Phanboi. “The ones in Nevada don’t count as they aren’t part of a theme park”, Phanboi explained.
When asked about the lack of information on other character’s ride, Phanboi replied, “We don’t want to shoot our entire wad in the first press release!”, laughed Phanboi. “Rest assured, we’re working hard on rides and attractions for Harry, Dumbledore, Hagrid and others. They’ll be just as unique as the ones listed here”, she said.
