- Monsters and Critics has a nice review up of the Heroes Season 1 DVD set. Looks like a nice package.
- Julie Gardner, executive producer for the Dr. Who spin-off Torchwood, told Sci Fi Wire that the new show was influenced by 1990′s American SF, especially The X-Files. Could that be a reason for the critical lambasting the show has taken since its premiere?
- Inner Toob takes the occasion of last weeks Erureka episode, where Fargo tells his grandfather that man has only been ‘officially’ on the moon since 1969, as a jumping off point to show how Moonbase Alpha actually did become established. Toob World looks at TV as being the actual reality, all others are fake.
- Jam! Showbiz has a nice little article on Jonathan Frakes and what he’s been doing since TNG (teaching film making, of course).

I’d say Torchwood got lambasted because they extracted anything whimsical and charming about Capt. Jack, put the final defense of the Earth in the hands of a bunch of damaged, fragile people who veer towards self-destructive behavior, and repeatedly used to written-to-be-depressing plots to force contrived unhappy endings.
At no point did any of the characters rise to a challenge, or get past their own moping to do something proactive. The fairy story was just plain cruel, and had no place in the benevolent-in-the-end universe of Dr. Who. The cannibal story was simply offensive.
As far as what Frakes is doing, don’t you also remember this?
