- Now that the Halo 3 film is on indefinite hiatus, Peter Jackson is looking for his next movie challenge. He will be producing District 9 with directory Neill Blomkamp. Apparently, D9 is a live-action SF film that will be shot in New Zealand. No word on plot. Let’s hope it’s a good one.
- Good news for all you Heroes haters out there, the looming strike just may force episode 7 to be the season finale! Wow. Just, wow. Maybe they can find some scab writers to straighten out the show.
- American Chronicle has a nice long interview with directory David Winning. David has directed many genre shows, including Dinotopia and Stargate: Atlantis. Lot’s in interesting stuff here.
- Skud’s Sister’s Brother (what a name), has reviewed the preview DVD of Charlie Jade. Jade tells the story of a detective who is able to move between three different realities. It looks really interesting, but it isn’t available in the US. Well, the DVD’s aren’t. I’m keen to watch this one.
- BuddyTV wonders, with rumors that Smallville may be ending soon, what are the potential spin-off shows? Out of the four mentioned, I think Cyborg sounds interesting. Of course, do we need a Six Million Dollar Man meets The O.C.? Don’t we already have the Million Dollar remake covered with The Bionic Woman?

Heroes’s episode 7 is the one airing tonight. The article you link to talks about ending the season after the eleventh episode, currently scheduled for December 3rd, which was already intended as the finale of ‘volume II’. In other words, this doesn’t strike me as a particularly dramatic upheaval of the show’s storyline.

I think I’m done with Heroes, finally. The business of having Peter paint the future to move the plot along did it in for me. “We’re supposed to go to Montreal.” Come on.
I can’t imagine the writer’s strike is going to hit this show very hard. Just give the monkey two bannanas per episode instead of one and you’re all set.
I do hope they resolve the strike soon!

Seen it in Canada. Be warned. It becomes very VERY obvious that they were influenced by Blade Runner to the point of copying the city scapes and matching music. Can’t say I managed to get through the pilot from laughing, and I like Blade Runner.
Why are you being so hard on Heroes? Would you rather have another cop procedural, American Idol competition, game show, or reality TV series?
If Heroes isn’t your cup of tea anymore fine. But some people still like it and it is SF on TV. So why bash it? The only thing that will help do is get the show canceled and then we will be left with CSI: Dancing with the Survivors Idol.
An interesting thing about expressing opinions online is that it can actually help a show. This is a result of the internet. People were complaining about LOST and look how the season ended; it’s almost unanimous that it ended on a strong note. The guys behind it have said that they listen to the fans and I doubt that it’s from snail mail. Heroes can only benefit from these OPINIONS and I doubt they’re ignoring all this; the guys behind Heroes are friends with Damon Lindelof from Lost. So everyone, relax, and don’t take offense. It’s just TV.
I hope the strike resolves soon. But if it doesn’t, I bet productivity sky rockets. Imagine not wasting 10 hours a week on TV!

I don’t just want SF on TV. I want good SF on TV. That’s why we bash Heroes, because it was really good once, and is far from that now. We want it to be better so that people will see how good SF can be. I’ve said it before, it’s up to the networks to provide us with shows we want to watch. It’s not our obligation to watch yet another crappy show on TV. That’s why we’re hard on it, we don’t want yet another reality show or CSI knockoff.
Our bashing/complaining about the show won’t get it canceled. Low ratings are the only thing that will cause that. They, the writers and producers, can ‘fix’ the ratings problems by improving the show over what it’s become right now.
