Bill & Ted's Excellent Reboot?

Following on from yesterday's news about a movie version of Hyperion, Movie Hole tells us that Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure is getting the reboot treatment.

The first question that comes to mind is: Why? At least with Hyperion, Hollywood is trying something new. Does Bill and Ted even warrant a re-make? Are people clamoring to see new people in these iconic roles? Is Hollywood really that bankrupt for ideas that they have to mess with all that is good and holy with the movies from my college days? If they wanted to make a good movie about time travel, why not go for Chris Roberson's Here, There and Everywhere?

From reading the article, it sounds like the story line isn't too far afield from the original, which means they're re-making it, but with minimal effort. Is it possible they may cast Chris Tucker as Rufus? Ack. Try something new Hollywood, we beg you.

Sounds like a fine idea to me!
