Sequels usually are a disappointment because they don't live up to the original. This seems the case in this instance as well. Wells never re-visited earth in his story. So this movie is going off on a tangent and most likely will end up being a rock 'em sock 'em action flick, rather than a serious SF movie.

Wow! And I thought the first movie was pretty unimpressive. Why even bother with a sequel if they can't get the only draw for the first movie (stars Tom Cruise and Dakota Fanning) back.

This isn't a sequal to the Spielberg/Crusie movie. It's the sequel to 2005 version starring Howell.
