Free eBook: The Serpent Bride By Sara Douglass
For a limited time, Eos is making The Serpent Bride By Sara Douglass available as a free download in multiple formats (Adobe, MS reader and MobiPocket).
Here’s their description of the book:
Tencendor is no more. The land is gone. But a few Sunsoars still remain. And in a distant realm, trouble stirs…Rescued from unspeakable horror, Ishbel Brunelle has devoted her life to the Serpent cult, but her destiny calls for larger plans, and dark warnings of the Lord of Elcho Falling. Meanwhile, the fabled hero and former god Axis Sunsoar returns from the Otherworld, and the Darkglass Mountain–once known as the Threshold–is waiting, for the Dark God Kanubai rises from his prison in exile.
And don’t forget Eos’ First Looks program, where you can sign up to read early copies of Nightwalker by Jocelynn Drake, The Servants by Michael Marshall Smith, and Anathem by Neal Stephenson.

Without reading this one, I read an ARC of the sequel:

Well, it appears that Eos has things bass ackwards. In order to get the free book, one must “register”. In the process of registering, one must (required!) give one’s name, address (WTF?), etc.
Folks, I hope you realize the make the process more complicated than going to the “undernet” and stealing it, you just end up encouraging folks to…well…steal.
Second annoyance: In order to download the Mobipocket version, you need to enter your Mobipocket PID’s (registered devices). So…gee…since I already gave Mobipocket my personal information, just confirm that my PID’s are valid and let me skip entering all the information again!
Baen Books makes it so much simpler than all this.
