- Over at Religion Dispatches, Gabriel Mckee responds to the Vatican’s recent announcement (that it’s OK for Catholics to believe in aliens) and wonders: Are God and Aliens Compatible? (Bonus flashback cover pr0n: Over at his blog SF Gospel, Gabriel has posted the wraparound cover scan for the issue of If magazine that featured the first appearance of James Blish’s story “A Case of Conscience”.)
- I’m not sure what these Spanish sci fi paperbacks from the 1950′s say, but the covers sure do look perty. [via PCL Linkdump]
- Free Fiction at Strange Horizons: “The Refutation of Rosemont” by Barth Anderson and “Tell Her” by Rachel Kincaid.
- SF Canada rounds up the Aurora Award results.
- Real Science: A new study suggests that “legions of tiny black holes created during the big bang may lurk at the centre of the galaxy, creating a prodigious antimatter factory…” [via Charlie Huston, who should stop blogging and get to work on the next Joe Pitt book!
] - A headline that explains it all: Dawn of the Dead is resurrected in 3-D!
- The Top 5 Lists in This Post:
- PickTheBrain lists 7 Pleasurable Ways to Improve Your Reading Ability.
- Planet Surfer lists Top 10 Incredible Robot Art Creations.
- Topless Robot lists The 10 Worst Album Covers by Comic Artists.
- Zap2it’s Misfits of Sci-Fi list Essential Sci-fi Movies.
- SCI FI Weekly Editor Scott Edelman offers The 10 Most Important Sci-Fi Films he’s Never Seen. Of that list, I’ve seen only The Andromeda Strain (most awesome), The Thing (also made of awesome), Repo Man (weird, iirc), Enemy Mine (memory is dim on this one — I do recall seeing it in the theater, though), and The Fly (Not sure if this still holds up, but I remember liking this one a lot, too). I really want to see The Man Who Fell to Earth since I read the book a few years ago and loved it.

Perty? I thought it was ‘purdy’ down here in these parts, pilgrim.
Sorry, I guess I’m still trying to get the hang of this Texas thang.
[See what I did there? Me so clever!
