SF Tidbits for 5/20/08

• Over at Religion Dispatches, Gabriel Mckee responds to the Vatican’s recent announcement (that it’s OK for Catholics to believe in aliens) and wonders: Are God and Aliens Compatible? (Bonus flashback cover pr0n: Over at his blog SF Gospel, Gabriel has posted the wraparound cover scan for the issue of If magazine that featured the first appearance of James Blish’s story “A Case of Conscience”.)

  • SCI FI Weekly Editor Scott Edelman offers The 10 Most Important Sci-Fi Films he’s Never Seen. Of that list, I’ve seen only The Andromeda Strain (most awesome), The Thing (also made of awesome), Repo Man (weird, iirc), Enemy Mine (memory is dim on this one — I do recall seeing it in the theater, though), and The Fly (Not sure if this still holds up, but I remember liking this one a lot, too). I really want to see The Man Who Fell to Earth since I read the book a few years ago and loved it.
