John, I snag all of them just like you...but it is just making my virtual reading stack as big as my physical reading stack...just not as messy and not that many boxes!

Wright's "Orphans" series is, simply put, the most enjoyable work of science fiction/fantasy I have ever read. And I say that having been an avid reader in both genres since the late 1960s. So yes, I'm an old fart, but even so, you owe it to yourself to read this book. My god, it's FREE! But don't let that make you think John C. Wright is somehow foolish, because you will love this book so much, you will not only buy the next two books in the series, you will go back and buy yourself a copy of this first one. No kidding.
The prose is brilliant, the humor and mystery and tension are handled with a deftness that is just exquisite, and the characters are some of the most memorable and engaging in all literature. Plus, the story is steeped in classical mythology in a way that is both seamless and magically compelling. I don't understand why this series hasn't received more attention (though this book, Orphans, did receive a Nebula nomination if I remember correctly), but it's not too late to get the ball rolling now. Read it, love it, and then recommend it to eight of your friends (none of you will regret it).
I know this comment is a bit effusive, but really, this series is pure magic. Incomparably intelligent and entertaining in equal measure. Go! Get out of here! Read it RIGHT NOW.
Thanks for listening.
