Here are the books we received this past week.
Fun games you can play:
- Rate the book covers!
- Tell us which books pique your interest!
- Tell us about past reading experiences with any of these authors!
(Note: The last three are final copies of books for which we received advanced copies).

I am so looking forward to TENDER MORSELS by Margo Lanagan. She surprises me every time. Her mind just thinks differently than mine and yet it all makes beautiful (and often) painful sense.
I read David Marusek’s collection in hardback. It stands right beside his first novel on my bookshlef. Can’t wait for his new one coming soon!
(Not so) fun fact:
My one reading experience with Kage Baker, who seems to get a lot of love, didn’t work out for me. I had heard nothing but praise from her, and so I picked up her fantasy debut (rather than a Zeus Inc novel), The Anvil of the World.
It’s a picaresque somewhat humorous fantasy novel, but perhaps I unwisely read this not long after reading some Pratchett and re-reading some Vance. It didn’t even come close to either in reading pleasure.
Also, her entry in the New Space Opera (Maelstrom)didn’t seem to work for me, either.
But I seem to be in a distinct minority on certain authors. And then, my one reading experience with Iain Banks (Inversions) wasn’t positive, either…
