• It seems that AMC is doing the job that the Sci Fi Channel doesn’t want to do. Namely, producing more honest to goodness TV shows. Case in point: AMC is working on an adaptation of Kim Stanley Robinson’s Red Mars. I know many people love this book, but I found it to be slow, tedious, with too much politics. Still, it’s real SF and it’s good to see someone trying to bring SF to TV.
  • The Hollywood Reporter reviews the new Life on Mars. Money quote: Mars might be orbiting the schedule for years. So yes, they liked it. However, this is another series that benefits greatly from having an actual end to work toward. Leaving it open ended will mean we’ll continually get ‘fish out of water’ episodes which will get old without the ‘is he or isn’t he’ time travel angle to work against.
  • The News Tribune has a nice little article covering the cast of Life on Mars during the shooting of the pilot. Nice to see some pub for the new series.
  • If you liked the first Robot Chicken Star Wars episode, it’s a sure bet you’re salivating for the the second. Sci Fi Scanner has an interview with the creators.
  • One Dad’s perspective on the new Clone Wars series on Cartoon Network. Aimed at kids, it might work on that level. I know around SF Signal World HQ, Clone Wars gets a ‘thumbs up’ from Tim and an enthusiastic ‘Meh!’ from John.
  • Over at Popular Science, they have an interview with Futurama alum David X. Cohen on the ‘geekification’ of TV. Just look at all the geeky shows on TV now and you can’t help but agree. The geeks are taking over! But for how long?
  • I found this interesting, but old, blog post detailing the guns of The Sarah Connor Chronicles and the potential effects on Terminators. Good idea about the live wire though, seems like a decent defense to me.
  • Speaking of The Sarah Connor Chronicles, did you know there is now an online game based on the show? Well there is, and it’s called Ambush.
