Tobias S. Buckell has posted the first third of his latest novel, Sly Mongoose, for free reading. This is a similar move to what was done for the previous novels in the sequence: Crystal Rain and Ragamuffin, samples of which he also offers on that page.

I challenge readers to start reading Sly Mongoose and stop between chapters 6 and 12. Bet you can't do it -- it's impossible to put down.
