I am totally on the fence as to whether this is the saddest thing I’ve ever seen or pure genius. Any opinions?
Either way, he gets bonus points for the shirts.

It’s close to genius. Think of it: he wrote all the lyrics, sung 4 parts, one at a time, synched it all together. Very, very good.
I’m saying, without reservation, genius.
I’ll go with genius. Very creative. The sad part is there can never be a “live” performance like this.
Actually, this guy did nothing but make the video. The song was written, arranged and even recorded by an A Capella group called Moose Butter. He’s lip-synching in the video. I guess he did it with their permission, so I can’t be too grumpy about this guy absorbing credit for what I consider a work of sheer genius by one of my favorite musical groups. The good news is, there have been THOUSANDS of live performances of this song. Hooray! Go to the next one in your hometown!
And I was just going to throw in MY comment that the most impressive thing about this video was that the guy was singing ALL FOUR PARTS, which would require quite a vocal range…so, too bad that he isn’t in fact singing any of them, but the song is still great.

If that sort of thing interests you, check out Bobby Mcferrin. Yeah, the Don’t Worry, Be Happy guy. He’s actually done several albums with nothing but his voice on them, multi-tracked many times over. And what a voice! People generally think of him as a one-hit-wonder from the eighties, but, in fact, he’s still going strong and is, without exaggeration, the most talented vocalist I have ever heard. He has a range that has to be heard to be believed. Here’s a really early video of him:

The video itself is dorky as hell, but if you ignore that and just listen to the song, it’s pretty impressive. All his voice, all unaltered.
Here’s a VERY impresive live one. He actually sings harmonies with himself in real-time, I think by buzzing his lips. Again, completely unaltered and unaided by technology. Absolutely astounding.

Dammit – I was so impressed until the Moose Butter thing (that’s something I’ve never said before). I was especially impressed with the whiny Luke impression.

The guy in moosebutter who does the whiny Luke impersonation also sang most of the songs on their album “udder won” all by himself, multi-tracked. You can listen to them online thru their website if you like to hear one guy with a big vocal range who does lots of stuff. He also wrote most of the songs, and he does perform “Star Wars” live as a solo song, with all the backing tracks recorded of his own voice. Just not the guy in the video, that’s all. For what it’s worth.
