I’d heard about it earlier today and was debating whether or not it was worth it to tune into CNN tonight to see Wolf Blitzer interact with a bunch of holographic reporters, in HD. However, I realized I had better things to do than sit around and wait for Wolf to talk to the magic, floating people. Of course, the internets come to the rescue. Check it:

Not bad, probably better watching this on a widescreen TV. Jessica Yellin looks like a cross between Leia and ‘bluey Yoda’, although, sadly, she didn’t talk like Yoda (next election, all talking heads on TV should be forced to talk in Yoda speak until the East Coast polls close). But I’m not sure what the utility of this is, aside from the ‘gee whiz, look at what we can do!’ aspect. Wolf still has to look at the hologram, which isn’t much different than looking at a monitor and it’s not like you can physically interact with the hologram. A flashy, cool, techy gimmick to be sure. Worth tuning in for? Not so sure.

Call me when you can make a holographic Wolf Blitzer appear in my living room. On second thought, maybe not Wolf…
