Artwork gold mine and community site Deviant Art has picked the best artists of the year -- one per month, based on the work submitted to the community.

There is really some stellar artwork here by artists Amir Salehi, Gabriel Gajdoš, Michel Merza, Jorik Dozy, Inga Nielsen, Josef Barton (twice selected!), Alexei Kozachenko, Marek, Andrée Wallin, Levente, and Ed Lopez.

Not to be a snob or anything, but they certainly seem to favor a certain dark, apocalyptic feel... don't they? There are plenty of great artists out there who are doing something other than the latest iteration of velvet Elvi.
