- One of the most celebrated anime movies, Akira, is making the jump to Blu-Ray. Now, I liked the movie well enough, but is it really worth it at $50 for Blu-Ray discs? I know there is a crap-load of extras, but still...
- Yesterday we mentioned the new, upcoming NBC show Kings. Now SF Universe wonders if Kings might be the new Galactica. In other words, a SF show that focuses on characters and drama over toys and SFX. In that respect, I'd say it's possible. It will all come down to the writing.
- Proving that even science fiction isn't immune to Godwin's Law, Jamie Callis (Gaius Baltar on Galactica) says BG would make Hitler cry. Seriously. He then compares the ending of BG to the ending of the 1812 Overture, calling it a big, orchestral ending to the show. I guess it's going out with a bang, then...
- Time magazine's TV critic, James Poniewozik, has seen the pilot for Joss Whedon's new show Dollhouse. His verdict: Cautious optimism. Given all the shenanigans surrounding the show already, I guess we'll have to take cautious optimism. And is it a good thing if it's an 'actress showcase' for Eliza Dushku? I've never really seen her in anything so I don't have a feel for her acting.
- Gary Scott Thompson, show runner for Knight Rider, isn't giving up on his show, even if the viewing audience has. He is taking pains to reassure fans that the show hasn't actually been canceled by NBC yet. Yet. I put the over/under for cancellation at 3 weeks.
- ComicMix has been running a serious of preview posts on the upcoming LOST season 4 DVD release. Here is a short video on how LOST is filmed in Hawaii, then transformed into locations around the world:
